Community Advisory Boards was a lively and insightful panel discussion that invited attendees to co-create shared learning and decision-making spaces that prioritized community expertise, labor, and support to address community-identified needs. CCPH shared real strategies to address the logistical challenges and power dynamics of creating and maintaining a community advisory board.
By participating in this session, we hope that attendees are able to describe community advisory boards and their roles in community-based participatory research, outline key considerations for forming and sustaining a community advisory board, and list examples of community advisory board creation, guidance, and evaluation in practice settings.
Participants received a key takeaway one-pager with quotes from the wonderful panelists, a slide deck with additional resources, and a community advisory board toolkit from the Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
Attendees are encouraged to use the ideas and practices discussed during the panel discussion to create meaningful community connections and create community advisory boards in their own work.
